Teaser with a track billing
Toyota GR Yaris teaser, 26 s. The Turkish caption announces the car as coming soon and credits motorsport DNA. Track is the only event named, and the clip sits under Track Day. The caption lists no parts and no modifications, so this is a stock-car announcement.
iMT rev-matching on the 6-speed
Gear changes in the GXPA16 run through a 6-speed manual with an iMT rev-matching function. The driver can switch it on or off. That is the useful part: with it on, the shift is handled by the car, and with it off the revs of the 1.6-litre G16E-GTS are left entirely to the driver. The engine makes 257 hp and 360 Nm in a 1280 kg car, and all of it goes through the GR-Four AWD system. The 2024 facelift adds an optional 8-speed GR-DAT automatic, so the manual with switchable iMT is no longer the only choice in newer cars.
Remap, intercooler and downpipe trade-offs
Remaps lead the list. An ECU remap gives large gains in power and torque on the stock turbo, at the price of higher engine stress and possible warranty problems. Heat soak on track in hot conditions cuts power, so an upgraded intercooler is the next step: lower intake temperatures, more consistent output, but more turbo lag if the core is oversized. A downpipe and exhaust make the three-cylinder louder and support higher-boost tunes. The cost is emissions and noise legality problems, plus drone.
