Privacy policy

This policy explains what data the operator of RevShorts ("we") processes when you use this website. Short version: we do not run accounts or newsletters, we measure visits to improve the site, and we keep as little as possible.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, but only if you agree in the cookie banner. Until then it is not loaded at all. With your consent it sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*, kept for up to 2 years) and sends Google, Ireland, your IP address (used for a rough location and not stored by Google Analytics), browser details and the pages you view, under Google’s privacy policy; data may be processed in the USA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25 TDDDG). You can change or withdraw it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; withdrawing deletes the Analytics cookies. Your choice itself is kept in your browser’s local storage for 12 months, not in a cookie. Separately, our own page counter records, per day, which page was viewed, the referring website or campaign, the device type (from the screen width) and the browser language — as totals only, without cookies, IP addresses or any visitor ID. Searches typed into the site search are counted the same way, without anything that identifies you. This site shows advertising. Our ad partner sets cookies or uses similar technologies only if you allow “Advertising” in the cookie banner; you can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

Embedded videos

Video pages show a static preview image. The third-party player (for example YouTube) is loaded only after you press play. From that moment the platform receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. If you never press play, no data is sent to the video platform.

In the Shorts feed, pressing play once counts as asking for the player: after that, the clip you scroll to loads and plays automatically until you leave the feed.

“Rev it” votes

When you press “Rev it”, we store the vote with a one-way, keyed hash of your IP address and browser user-agent — never the IP itself — so each device can vote once per clip. Votes are deleted after 30 days. Your browser remembers which clips you revved in its local storage; nothing is sent to us from there, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Server logs

Like every web server, ours records technical request data — IP address, time, requested URL, browser user-agent and referrer — to keep the site secure and working. Logs are kept for a short period (typically up to 30 days) and are not used to build profiles. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.

Contact requests

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to answer you and keep a record of takedown requests as long as needed to handle them.

You may ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data we hold about you, object to processing, and complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us at the address on the contact page.
