Abandoned MK4 and a 1000HP caption

Caption: an abandoned Toyota Supra MK4 restoration with a 1000HP upgrade. It names no parts and no events, so the build list is not stated. For scale, the A80's factory 2JZ-GTE is rated at 320 hp, and the 1000HP figure sits well above that.

Sequential twin turbos and the second handover

Two turbochargers run in sequence on the 2JZ-GTE, a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six (2,997 cc). The second turbo joins at higher rpm, and that changeover gives the engine its noticeable shift in character: smooth six-cylinder delivery that changes once the second unit comes online. The sequential plumbing is the fragile part. It depends on complex vacuum hoses and valves, and these deteriorate with age. Ageing vacuum lines are a common cause of poor boost behavior, so a leak in that network disturbs the way the two turbos cooperate. Rubber that has aged is a plausible suspect on any 1993-2002 car with its original system intact.

Single turbo swaps and fueling limits

Owners chase the iron-block 2JZ because it has much higher power potential than the 427 Nm stock rating suggests. A single turbo conversion unlocks that, and it also retires the vacuum-hose maze of the sequential system. The price is more turbo lag and weaker low-rpm response. Fuel is the next limit: stock injectors and the stock pump run out once boost is raised, so larger units go in, and the engine management has to be tuned to match. A standalone ECU takes over fuel, ignition and boost, but costs money and needs a professional tune. A front-mount intercooler lowers intake temperatures under high boost; the longer piping can slow response.
