Mercedes-AMG G63: mechanical breakdown
A new G63 in seven seconds
Seven seconds, captioned only as a new Mercedes-AMG G63. No parts, no event. What the sheet says about this car is the sound: the M177 is a cross-plane V8, so it burbles, with crackles on overrun in Sport modes. The side-exit pipes ahead of the rear wheels make it loudest from the side.
Three locking differentials under 2.5 tonnes
Under the W463A body, 4MATIC splits drive 40:60 toward the rear and keeps locking differentials at the front, centre and rear. Locking all three forces every wheel to turn at the same speed, which is what lets a G63 keep moving when wheels lose grip. All of it sits behind 577 hp and 850 Nm from the M177, fed through the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G nine-speed automatic. On the road the locks stay open and the car behaves like a rear-biased AWD saloon. The weak point is mass. Very high weight means tyres and brakes wear fast, and the sheet lists high fuel consumption alongside it.
ECU tunes, valve exhausts and wheels
Uploader named nothing, so the sheet's list applies. An ECU tune comes first: software alone adds large power and torque on the twin-turbo V8. Warranty can suffer, and the extra output loads the gearbox and drivetrain. An aftermarket exhaust or valve control comes next, for a louder, more aggressive V8 note; the price is drone at cruise and possible noise-regulation problems. Larger aftermarket wheels sharpen the look. Unsprung weight goes up and the ride gets harsher.
