Header design decides what these clips sound like. The EJ cars, such as the Impreza GC8 and GD, run unequal-length headers, so exhaust pulses arrive unevenly and produce the boxer burble. The FA20DIT in the VA WRX uses a different layout and sounds smoother and less burbly. The 2.4-litre FA24F in the VB WRX also lacks that burble.
