0-60 to 0-100 km/h Converter
Convert a car's 0-60 mph time to 0-100 km/h and 0-62 mph (and back), with the average acceleration in g and the checked times of the quickest cars in our catalogue.
About 4.2 s to 100 km/h and 4.0 s to 60 mph — an average pull of 0.68 g.
Why 0-100 km/h takes longer than 0-60 mph
60 mph is 96.6 km/h, so a 0-100 km/h run asks for 3.6% more speed. The time grows by more than that, because a car pulls hardest off the line and less hard near the end of the run, where air drag rises and it may need another gear. Across road-test data the time scales roughly with speed1.3, so a 0-100 km/h time is about 4.7% longer than the same car's 0-60 mph time.
UK makers quote 0-62 mph, which is 99.8 km/h: practically the same run as 0-100 km/h. US magazines usually subtract a one-foot rollout from 0-60 mph times (the first 30 cm do not count, as on a drag strip), which makes them another 0.1-0.3 s quicker than a European figure.
Formulas
- 0–100 km/h ≈ 0–60 mph × 1.047
- 0–60 mph ≈ 0–100 km/h × 0.955
- 0–62 mph ≈ 0–100 km/h × 0.997
These are estimates for the same car on the same surface. A shift right before 100 km/h can add a couple of tenths.
