Drag Race Simulator
Race two cars over the quarter mile: pick them from our checked spec sheets or enter power and weight, and see who wins, by how many metres, and each car's 0-100 km/h, 1/8-mile and trap speed.
Bugatti Chiron (Chiron, 2016–2024) wins by 100.6 m (1.61 s), running the quarter mile in 8.80 s and crossing the line at 270 km/h.

How the race is simulated
Each car is simulated from a standing start in 2-millisecond steps. The push forward is the smallest of three limits: grip (at the launch 1.05 g with all-wheel drive, 0.75 g rear-wheel, 0.7 g front-wheel drive on road tyres, up to 40% more for cars quick enough to run performance tyres, and rising towards 1.3 g above 90 km/h), torque at low speed (full power only from about 50 km/h) and power ÷ speed. Air drag and rolling resistance pull back, and each gear change cuts the drive for a tenth of a second.
A driver (75 kg) is added to the kerb weight, and about 80% of the crank power reaches the road on average — drivetrain losses plus the engine spending time away from its peak. Tuned that way, the model lands within about half a second of real quarter-mile times for most road cars.
What it does not know
- Launch control, sticky tyres and quick dual-clutch gearboxes often beat the estimate; slow cars run 0-100 a little quicker here than in road tests. That is also why an all-wheel-drive car can lead off the line and still lose at the top end.
- Tyres, surface, altitude and heat change real results by more than the gap between many cars.
- Where our spec sheet has a checked 0-100 km/h time, it is shown separately from the estimate.
